Junior School

The Junior School comprises students in Years Reception – Year 5.

The Junior School is the first stage in a child’s school education and our main objective is to provide your child with the opportunity to develop academically, socially and emotionally in a safe, friendly, supportive and caring environment.

In the Reception – Year 5 years, teachers aim to provide a learning environment that is caring, nurturing, encourages parent participation and guides students from concrete to abstract thinking. Students work in a variety of learning situations utilizing the “learning to learn” approach. Explicit teaching of concepts and skills, play and resource based learning, student initiated learning and cross age peer work.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Students currently study seven areas with languages integrated into the SOSE unit.

· Design and Technology
· Maths
· Studies of Society and Environment (S&E)
· Arts

The Junior School has a weekly assembly on Mondays to celebrate student achievements, communicate messages and develop organizational prowess. Students have access to their own playground, sandpit, grassed and paved seating areas. There is a double tennis court area and school oval. Students have helped paint the artworks that adorn the quadrangle area and the “save water” signs were an initiative of the SRC.
