Premier's Reading Challenge
The introduction of the Premier’s Reading Challenge in 2004 was very successful. We had most of the Junior School participating and 68 students received a certificate for reading 12 books during the year. If they complete the challenge next year they get a bronze medallion, with a silver and gold medallion in the following years. The students had to read 8 books from a prescribed list and 4 of their own choice in about 5 months.

Although most had little difficulty with the four “Own Choice” books, some found it difficult to find a book off the list suitable to read. Due to a Federal Government Library Grant, the Premier’s Reading Grant and a Literacy Grant we managed to purchase hundreds of new readers for the Junior School, so next year’s participants should have fewer problems in finding a book to read.

Students who wish to enter the challenge can begin reading as soon as school starts next year and so they will get a full 9 months to complete it.

Library Management
This year has again been a busy year (aren’t they all??). We have managed to get all the posters/pictures/charts (630 of them) sorted and catalogued, so hopefully they will be better used.

We also catalogued all the readers (we now have 4200 readers + another 230 that have just arrived!) so hopefully all of the cataloguing has been caught up for now.
